With the cool crisp air coming most people think of getting back to school picking out your favorite Halloween costume or even trying that new dip for your favorite tailgate. One thing that always come to my mind as well as all of those things is has someone check the first aid kit or the batteries in flashlights? We are in a society where we want things faster and faster but as Super Storm Sandy taught us we can go at a different pace if we are forced to. I realize checking first aid kits and flashlight is not the most exciting project on most people to do list but this is something that can be fun for the whole family and help everyone to know where things are when something as small as a cut on the finger to loss of power. I can't stress enough to start small by putting a check list of what is needed in the first aid kit in the kit so you know what need to be replaced, also replace the gloves when you turn the clocks so you know you have the best protection you can. I have attached a list below to give you and idea to get your started. Preparedness is a state of mind that takes practice just like when you learned to ride a bike and like riding a bike if you are not paying attention you can get hurt.
